EA Battles To One-Up Activision

Quote:Theres always been some competition between EA and Activision. EA is taking competition to a new level with their latest announcement of an online tournament on Battlefield 3 for $1.6 Million in cash and prizes. This tournament is being sponsored by Virgin Gaming and according to the preliminary sign-up its going to be for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers. This worldwide tournament will begin in 2012 and the best of the best will walk away with cash.

So how does Activision play into this competition? Well, they dont in the sense that theyre not helping out EA with their tournament. Earlier this month Activision held a $1 Million tournament during Call of Duty XP. EA decided to take that idea and raised the bar by upping the prize amount. Alls fair in love and war right?

Those who are taking part in the Battlefield 3 beta have a leg up on getting ready for this competition. For those of you not in the beta, dont forget that Battlefield 3 releases October 25, 2011 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
