the only 3ds support atm is obj and as you most likey know alreaddy that caint handle bones , so your only option is maya , simple export ma then open in maya and drag the bind script into maya and your one rigged & weighted :p then you may export to 3ds if you have to but hey if you get maya you'd be better off useing that anyways.
