why?

That pc should be fine, and as for the optical drive, scrap it, get a better PSU, get an ATI 6870, if you REALLY want an optical drive, just buy a portable one, they are cheaper, and are exactly the same. But yes, that computer will play BO2 on max, only thing, your resolution should be different from your screen, make it 1 resolution lower then what it gives you as recommended settings.

As for AMD being garbage, its not, their graphics cards are perfectly fine, BUT their processors are shit, don't even bother with them.

Also, you want to make sure your Case has bays that will fit a 3.5" drive too, other wise you will be very disappointed when you have to cut peices off of your new case just to fit the HDD in it

ok thanks but i think i'll go with the gtx570... it seems to me that it's way better than ati 6870.

OK
so

750w seems a bit too much imo. @d0h! what do you think?

yeah a gtx 580 can even be handled on 500w if you want to bend your budget a little lower get a 650w

@blackopsguy

That setup is great, you will have no problems with, and yes, 1440x900 is perfect, gtx570 will handle that fine, get that setup you have there, you have no problems playing BO2 with that, but as i said, just lower you resolution by one grade for playing BO2, for max performance Smile

6870 = 5870 (same card, same architecture, low card, you can even run both in crossfire, should be clear that its the same card...waste of money)

the resolution tip makes no sense at all for me

almost every common used case supports 3.5 brackets, either in the 5.25 bay or in sorted 3.5 brackets

H77 is better than Z68 -.-

you are not running the game purely in ultra mode because ultra also means 1080p...

Changing resolution to 1920x1080 which requires a full HD monitor
