Hey all, I'm an architectural student with a passion for PC's and gaming. I have been introduced to the 3d computing world and well, cant get enough. I thought i'd take the next step and mod some games. Obviously starting at the most hardest and working my way down to something easy ;P

Love FPS so that will be my area i start in and seeing as i'm already familar with 3d buildings i guess i'll start with levels.

Right now you can't officially edit levels in CoD7.
You can start with simple gamescripts though, or mod another FPS like ... anything from the Source Engine.

Both game rule specific mods and levels are made very easy there + everything is open source there so doing "hardcore" stuff that interferes with the very basics of the engine should not be a problem at all.
