EMS is a vastly improved scripting system that allows script authors to go past modifying existing scripts and write custom script logic, spawn and control entities, and much more.
This is a system that is pretty similar to Call of Duty's gsc scripting. Squirrel script is used, and seems pretty easy to understand.

Rumours are Valve wants to release this for Dota 2 too. For now, I might have to reinstall L4D2.
